Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Ribniška Lake on Pohorje - Slovenia, at sunrise and at minus 10 degrees.

Time

lready at daybreak we were with a colleague on the lake, as it appeared to be a beautiful sunrise with mist and slight cloudiness. Clouds until sunrise completely lost, so I try and do a different photo than usual.

Lighting

The sky was perfectly blue, so I had to wait almost two hours that the sun came out from behind a hill over the lake, which is surrounded by low bushes and pine trees. The ice was beautiful and clean color that is seen in its depth. When the sun first shine was on the lake, all the beauty of ice, water lily caught in the ice and a slight mist in the background, he showed all the beauty of a given moment

Equipment

The photo was taken with Nikon D500, ISO 100, Aperture priority with Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 on tripod

Inspiration

Lake I have known almost my whole life, low temperatures and no snow on the hills, I was convinced that I and my colleagues went to the lake, to see the sunrise in the mountains. We were really lucky that the lake was completely frozen and no one has ever walked on the lake. Because until sunrise clouds disappeared, I chose a different photo. I have put the camera to the lowest point on tripod, that I caught the water lily and the sun in the lens.

Editing

I made 5 photos, each with a different focus. At home I have merged into one, so i got sharpness across the image. I dropped the shadows and highlights,I increased the contrast of fog in the background

In my camera bag

I have Nikon D500, Sigma 18-50 f2.8, Sigma 10-20mm f3.5, Carl Zeiss Jena DDR 50mm f4, normal tripod, gorilla tripod and filters for all lens

Sometimes everything does not go according to plan, because the natural environment can change rapidly. Exploit what nature has to offer you at any given time.
