Behind The Lens
Location
The image was captured near my house. It's one of those situations where we do not need to set up a studio or take a trip to take a wire that really pleases us. In this case it was a few meters from home, on a prickly wall with moss-covered stones and grass in the back, in the back plane.Time
The time was in the morning, in this type of image the time does not seem relevant since I took advantage of the incident light and used two metallic reflectors. The light is almost natural and focused on the small living being.Lighting
The light is natural, light falling on the mossy wall. I used two small side reflectors in order to focus the upper light in a central plane in order to enhance the details of the snail. In LR I treated the shadows in order to improve the darker areas, because the idea was to create a funny photo, as if the caracal sheltered under an umbrella.Equipment
I used my Nikon D7100, the 50mm lens and a 2X close-up lens on the front of the lens. There was no need to use the tripod. At the same time, I used two metallic reflectors (of paper covered with aluminum film) that I use in macro photography.Inspiration
I like nature images, like mushrooms, small insects, etc. but in this case the weather did not help for these types of photographs. Just as it was a rainy season, I took advantage of a small rain stop and explored the snails coming out of the wallEditing
Yes, as i mencioned, i used LR to enhance the most dark areas to get a vibrant image. In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, Nikkor AF 50 1.8D lens, Nikkor 18-105 AF lens, industar 2 f3.5, Helios 44m-2, coloured filter and a ND filter, Tokina ATX 11-16 2.8, Sigma 10-20 3.5, close-up lens and nd and coloured filters. I also use sometimes old médium format film cameras, like TLR or old Zeiss Ikon Nettar camera.Feedback
Sometimes small things can bring big and outstanding works. Use your imagination.
