Location
This photo was taken on the beach at Brighton in Queensland Australia. It was a low tide which enabled me to stand on a sandbank and get the reflection in the still water.Time
This was taken during twilight which enhanced the colours.Lighting
This was a time exposure of 30 seconds which was about as long as the steel wool burnt for. The colours changed as the backlight changed.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 with a Tamron 28 - 300mm lens on a tripod with a cabble shutter release.Inspiration
A friend had been doing some steel wool spinning and had invited us along to photograph it. We got hooked and decided that we would invent our own little steel wool spinning. My clever wife came up with using an egg whisk to place the steel wool in for spinning.Editing
Not a lot of processing was needed. Just the usual Raw processing. Some vibrance increase to bring out the colour and as the reflection wasn't a cross the whole photo I did create artificial reflection. In my camera bag
I don't carry a lot of equipment. Always have a flash, tripod,some filters. I don't have a large variety of lens.Feedback
Practice. Be prepared to try different things and different perspectives.
