This is amazingly pretty! I love the colors and the very creative composition (as @UnkleFrank mentioned as well)! With this piece, it's no wonder you received the Finalist award. Congratulations! :)

This photo was taken at a wedding in downtown Charlotte. While the beautiful ladies were getting ready, I took the opportunity to take a few ring shots. The brides floral arrangement was so beautiful I couldn't help but use it as a prop in the photo. So I went and found the best area for my lighting, set up the flowers, tinkered with the rings to get the best composition, and snapped away.Time
This is by far one of my most favorite shots using the macro lens I just got for my Olympus Camera. I needed perfect lighting to achieve the shot. It was midday and the room had many windows to allow for great lighting. The light was key in this photo.Lighting
When I shoot for weddings, the first thing I look for is the lighting. This is key in all of my photography and something I am still trying to master. I have great mentors to help me along the way. Since it was midday and the sun was high in the sky, I was able to get some great lighting. Now, I was in a hotel room. But luckily, we had many windows to allow for the sunlight to come into the room. No flash was needed.Equipment
At the time I didn’t have a flash for my camera. I simply used my Olympus OMD EMF 5 Mark II. I absolutely love this mirrorless camera. I was previously working with a Canon camera and lenses. However, caring around the camera, lenses and all other equipment just got so heavy for me. You see, I’m a small girl and sometimes, smaller is better. Switching to Olympus was one of the best decisions I have made. Not only is my camera bag lighter, I also get higher quality images. Along with the Olympus, I used a 60mm macro lens.Inspiration
I absolutely love macro images. And what better lens to capture the beauty of a ring. Macro! The timing was right, the lighting was right, and I had everything I needed to get the shot I was looking for. I was also inspired by the beautiful colors of her flowers. The pink was perfect!Editing
For this photo, there wasn’t much post-processing at all. Manly I corrected the white balance, boosted up the saturation to make the colors pop and cropped the photo for a perfect composition. Easy-peasy!In my camera bag
When I shoot weddings, I try to carry little with me as possible. Especially since they are full 8 to 10 hour days. My camera bag is equipped with, well… my camera obviously, my wide lens, my prime lens, and my macro lens. Of course I have all the little things like batteries, lens cloths, etc. I also like to keep some munchies with me in case I get hungry. I don’t want to be the hungry photographer at the wedding now.Feedback
My advice I would give for shooting at weddings or even for macro. Choose lighting first. This is most important. Once you have your lighting just right, go for the composition then background. Lighting is key! Oh and always... HAVE FUN!
