Location
Herstmonceux Castle, near Herstmonceux, a village in East Sussex, southern England.Time
Late afternoon, after strolling around the castle grounds, I saw the 15th century building reflected in a puddle on the entrance bridge over the moat.Lighting
Natural late-afternoon sunlight.Equipment
Canon digital EOS cameraInspiration
I'm fascinated by history, especially old buildings. The exterior of Herstmonceux Castle was built in 1441, but the interior was dismantled in 1777 and left in ruins until the early 20th century when the interior was rebuilt.Editing
Slight tweak to the levels in Photoshop to bring out the red of the bricks. In my camera bag
I'm a minimalist, so with just the camera body, a 24-70mm lens and flash unit, I can easily carry my camera everywhere I go.Feedback
If you enjoy finding something surreal in the ordinary, utilise puddles or mirrors for reflections, or dramatically alter your perspective to play with viewer perceptions.
