Our River ship arrived in Regensburg Germany on August 15, 2011 and that afternoon we visited the Weltenburg Monastery. Founded around the year 600 A.D. on a picturesque peninsula on the Danube, Weltenburg is the oldest monastery in Bavaria. Its beautiful baroque church and masterpiece of the monastery brothers Asam attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world. The abbey church, dedicated to Saint George, which was built by the Asam Brothers between 1716 and 1739. The chapel underwent extensive restoration from 2003-2005.
This is the alter where you can see St George on his horse slaying a dragon. This was pretty hard to shoot as a single image due to the dim lighting in the church and the light streaming in from behind, but I was able to work with it in Capture NX2. No noise correction was applied. Shot with D700 and 17-35mm f-2.8 zoom @ 35mm, f-6.3, 1-60, ISO 1250, hand held. Edit 2-27-16 reprocessed in PSCS6 Extended using Picture Postcard Workflow for a better result
