Location
This was taken at my cousin's home, a charming little cottage in a wood, at Christmas timeTime
It was taken in the evening just before we had our Christmas mealLighting
It was completely dark outside as there are no street lights and the inside of the room was mostly lit by the candle in this lanternEquipment
Handheld Nikon D5100 with 55-300mm telephoto lens, no flashInspiration
I just loved the intimacy of the candlelight and the way it was reflected in the double glazed windowEditing
Contrast adjusted, slight lomo & orton effects using PicasaIn my camera bag
I tend to carry my Nikon D5100 with the telephoto 55-300mm lens most places and in my kit bag there is always a spare battery and SD card. I also have a Nikon J2 with 10-30mm lens for more wide angle shots and an Olympus TG-1 which is waterproof so great on rainy days! I have filters, macro equipment, flashgun , monopod and tripod but I don't often use them. I've just bought a Nikon Coolpix P900 which is handy as it is very versatile for the varied subjects I tend to shootFeedback
Always be on the lookout for those special moments, with a slightly different twist, this one was trying to reflect a special family occasion without being too overtly Christmassy or sentimental.
