Location
Willington Dovecote & Stables is a National Trust property located in Willington, near Bedford, Bedfordshire, England.Time
Before sunrise early morning about 6 a.m It was super cold and foggy kinda surreal.Lighting
well what can i say it was this magical moment just before sunrise where sky colours are most intensive and very cold weather allow morning mist to form . Lots of purple tones dominated the sky i could not ask for better weather.Equipment
canon 7d sigma 10 20 mm manfrotto heavy duty tripod, cable release, no filter or flash for this shotInspiration
lighting! and the beauty of this place give it the right conditions and its just magical. I did research this place online been there couple of times before but no luck with the light and or the weather, I always come back to the same locations with hope for best light possible, be patient and it will happen.Editing
i did my usual raw conversion in lightroom. In lightroom i usually do exposure if needed contrast, highlights and shadows i don't touch clarity unless photo i work on kinda need it. I than sharpened image and masked out what i didn't want to be sharp. Last step i work a little bit with hue and saturation to lift that purple tones. In my camera bag
canon 7d, spare battery, flash, tripod, set of 4 lenses 17-85mm canon, 10-20mm sigma and 50mm canon, 75-300mm canon, set of filters (nd and graduated nd),10 stop nd filter from Hoya and Polarizer also from Hoya, cable release and my mobile with lots of apps for photographers.Feedback
Well first of all you have to be in the right place at the right time i think that's most important, be late and the magic is lost because this lighting i have captured only lasted for about 15 min, i guess i was lucky. Another thing I always moce back to the same locations multiple times like i said be patient and the magic will eventually happen! For mysterious shots like this one i would choose cold weather with a chance for a fog perhaps winter or early spring mornings, you also looking at some clouds in the sky i hate blue skies as they really boring in my opinion, nice for a picnic but not for a photography:)
