Location
This photo was taken while I was pet sitting this cat, Jorgie. I own my own pet services business and am always ready to capture the pets I care for. I focus on the personality of the animal.Time
This photo was taken in the evening in a darkened roomLighting
There was no ambient light. Just a dark night, a darkened room and a flash.Equipment
I took this photo with my Samsung Galaxy phone. f 2.2 1/15. 4.80mm ISO640 With flash.Inspiration
His regal apperance was my inspiration for capturing this image.Editing
The photo was originally shot in color but manipulated the image by using a black and white filter and brushed out anything in the background that caught the flash. I also brought back a splash of his original eye color. In my camera bag
I normally have my Canon EOS 60 D, my Canon zoom, macro and 50mm lenses as well as assorted lens filters and materials to diffuse/bounce flash or to use over or on the lens. I am an old school photographer who has recently rediscovered my passion in this new digital age! For this photo, I only had my phone with me but if you have the inspiration, you don't need a lot of equipment.Feedback
My advice is to let the subject speak to you. Experiment with different angles, lighting and textures on the same subject. The fun for me is challenging myself to see how many different ways I can see my subject. I often capture a few images of the subject that evoke several different emotional responses upon viewing. I strive to move the viewer by capturing an image of something they may see everyday but never quite the way that I may see it.
