Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in downtown Penscola, Florida. We lived there briefly while my husband attended a course and I wanted to take some photos of our son there.

Time

This was taken mid morning, I don't remember the exact time. We woke up, got dressed as Captain America and headed downtown. There were people up and about and saying hi to "Captain America".

Lighting

This was shot with natural light. We were in the shade of trees and the high buildings blocked any harsh sunlight.

Equipment

This was photographed using my Nikon D7000 and kit lens, handheld.

Inspiration

My son is my favorite model. He's a huge fan of Captain America and had the costume. I wanted to get out and take some photos so we put all this together. He still loves this image of himself. I'm not sure if he remembers everyone downtown saying Hi to Captain America, but I'll never forget his huge grin "Mommy, they think I'm the REAL Captain America!"

Editing

Minor tweaks in photoshop but nothing major.

My Nikon D7000, my Nikkor 35, 50 and 85 mm lenses, my Nikon SB700 flash.

Feedback

When it comes to childrens' portraits, you need to show off THEM. In this case, we dressed him up as his favorite super hero and just had fun with it!
