This is a lovely landscape, full of drama from the dead wood on up. Congratulations on your award!

Location
This was taken in Monument Valley in the Navajo Reservation! This part is just in the southern Utah border. This is probably one of the most photographed areas in the Southwest! My grandfather took pictures and then painted his version on convas! It is a rather magical place to be at anytime!Time
This was taken around early afternoon as thunderstorms were moving in and out of the area!Lighting
Rolling thunderstorms but on the light side made the whole feel interesting as I am not a fan of a cloudless sky! The darker sky also contributed to the richer color of this beautiful red sandEquipment
I used my Canon 5D and Canon 17-40 L and this was shot at 17mm focal lengthInspiration
I have always been intriged by the southwest and especially Monument Valley and even though most of my photography is wildlife and macro I also dable in landscapes when I am in the right setting and this scene presented itself! I walked around until I found the perfect foreground to accompany these majestic sandstone buttes!Editing
I use Lightroom and used a light HDR plugin app and added a little contrast and vibrance! In my camera bag
I usually have my Canon 5D MK III, Canon 7D MK II and Canon 17-40/f4 L, Canon 100/f2.8 Macro L and Canon 400/f5.6 L and TripodFeedback
Landscapes almost always needs something interesting in the foreground. Driftwood in this case but a boulder, crow, bush, sage, rabbit or rattlesnake?? Leading horse tracks! I have taken many pictures in Monument Valley but the shots on this day were my favorite because of the ominous and interesting sky! Unfortunately weather is hard to control so luck is needed as well!
