This photo was taken in Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada during a family vacation. I have an extreme passion for photography and bring my camera with me almost everywhere.Time
We had been walking down the beach at sunset the night before when I saw these lifeguard stands. I remember thinking to myself how awesome this would look as a silhouette sunset photo. The next night I brought my camera to the beach for our sunset walk and came out with exactly what I had envisioned the night before.Lighting
I had the largest light on the planet available for use when taking this image. To accomplish the silhouette, you simply need to expose for the sun and anything in the foreground will darken.Equipment
This photo was shot handheld using a Nikon D7000 and the 50mm 1.8 prime lens.Inspiration
I love the beach and was in a phase where I was trying to master the art of silhouette photos.Editing
The post processing was done in Adobe Lightroom. I enhanced the colors in the sky and darkened the foreground to make the sihlouette very dark.In my camera bag
Now I typically have: Nikon D610 Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 Nikon 80-200 F2.8 Nikon 50mm 1.8 Olympus OMD-EM1 Olympus M.ZUIKO 17mm f/1.8 LensFeedback
There are a million sunset photos out there, but making yours different is the key. Silhouettes take practice in shooting as well as post processing. So all I can recommend is spend some time practicing.
