The name does not describe the moment. It is a strange view since this last time it was taken. Now the view is covered by three high rise buildings. The moment is actually destroyed by filling a void. The actual void was good now it is just creates a tunnel effect of dark deep black.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Chicago on Lake street bridge. At the wee hours of the night.

Time

This is one of many favorite spots to take a moment. On Lake street there is no motion to worry about plus the light is just perfect. The time was around 1130pm close to the midnight hours. When there is hardly any traffic to worry about and less moving objects.

Lighting

The light is always perfect after 10pm at night in Chicago. The amount of light is just perfect since most of the lights in our streets are left on all night Making the City life in Chicago a bit more visible at night with all it's glimmering lights. The exposure was set to long and with a tripod.

Equipment

The equipment that I used was a Nikon 3000. The lense was an 18-55mm Nikon DX. There was a tripod. NO flash.

Inspiration

To be honest. The weary look. The relationship of a science fiction space ship look alike. This view when walking or driving via this street it always reminds of an old movie. The movie in mind is Tron. As if the evil space ships are there. This is what I was capturing and keeping in mind as I was pressing the button.

Editing

About post-processing. There was minimal. This moment or capture was one of many taken that night. I wanted to capture the moment perfect. So there was lot's of takes and lot's of errors made to finally come with a perfect sight of landscaping architecture. I can not lie there was dark colors. Detail about 25 percent. The F Stop was at 11. With highlights on the lights set to -25. Whites where set to -50 percent to help make the bright of lights less. The rest to set black and white when processing. More... just create a moment that is warm and mind capturing.

In my camera bag

The equipment I had on this night. A tripod. The camera was a Nikon 3000. The lenses where a Nikon 18-55mm, Nikon 70-300mm Extra batteries and sweater to keep warm from the moist in the city.

Feedback

The advice for a moment similar to this one. To come prepared with a tripod and a remote. The less moment and motion on camera the better. This will help with the shake of the finger or the trigger. As a photographer. I would always keep in mind the weather and constructions sights. It has come to some bad moments when the sight or the streets are closed for repair or constructions. Due plan accordingly since it might just rain if you are not paying attention to the weather. On this night I almost got caught by a storm that was approaching. If you want a similar moment. Just remember to use your landscapes and third rules. Thank you...
