Location
On a farm in Pennsylvania where the owner runs an Airbnb and is rescuing an extremely rare Arabian horse breed (she also raises Fainting Goats).Time
Dusk. Just past Golden Hour but before sunset.Lighting
No special lighting used, just natural light so as to not spook this rather shy but striking dog.Equipment
Canon T2i with a 70-300mm lensInspiration
I offered to take the dog's portrait for her owners who were staying at my friends farm Airbnb. She was such a gorgeous animal and when she struck that pose I had to get the shot!Editing
I keep the post-processing to a little as possible. I cropped this image and enhanced the exposure to bring out the dog's brindle coat.In my camera bag
Canon T2i, kit lens, 70-300mm lens, macro lens, assorted filters, microfiber cleaning cloths, back up battery and SD card, business cards, collapsible hood, and rain cover for lens.Feedback
Especially when photographing animals, use a long lens so you can shoot from a distance and not disturb their natural behavior. Then take pictures over and over again. From dozens to hundreds in order to get That Shot.
