Such a dope composition. Love the way how you choose to show scale by using a panoramic landscape with a human element on foreground. Top class!

Location
The photo was taken in Alberta, Canada.Time
This is probably my favorite photo from 2016. We hiked for a couple of hours to catch the sunrise on top of this mountain. The last part of the hike was a steep scramble, but the view up top was so rewarding! I'm pretty sure this will be my favorite sunrise for a long time.Lighting
I knew it would either be a hit or a miss with the sunrise. We got lucky and got the most beautiful light hitting the clouds and mountain peaks. This photo was taken with just natural light.Equipment
This was shot on my Nikon D810 and a 24-120mm f/4 lens.Inspiration
I was taking photos of the landscape by itself first, but decided to add a human element to the photo to make it more interesting.Editing
For this photo I corrected the white balance, added some contract, boosted the exposure a little bit, but also pulled down the highlights so there would still be detail in the clouds. I also added some saturation to make the colors pop a little more.In my camera bag
I always have the Nikon D810 in my bag. It depends on what I'm photographing which lenses I'll take. Usually I carry around my 24-120mm f/4, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.4 If I'm photographing landscapes I always make sure to take my tripod with me, as well as my ND filters.Feedback
The weather in the Canadian Rockies is very unpredictable. When you go hiking, make sure you take appropriate gear and clothing. Also don't forget to carry bear spray! There was a grizzly at the summit when we reached it, which isn't uncommon for this area. Make sure you hike which a large group of people, and know how to behave around bears. Other than that, sunrise and sunset are the key moments for getting good lighting. If the first try doesn't go as you would have hoped, don't give up and keep trying!
