It has been said, "The only Zen you find on a mountain, is the Zen you bring with you" This is from my backyard on the porch, growing from a plastic pot. It is part of what I call "The Backyard Safari"Time
Dawn's sunlight peeks over the roof of a house right next door and creeps across the yard. It is the other 'golden hour'. A time not to be missed! And if you are just sticking to your yard, or your block or neighborhood, it is easy to get to. Stress-less. I love dawn. A cup of coffee steaming in the coolness of the morning air, watching the sun highlight things I've seen a dozen times but never really seen it in just this way because this time this sun this dew this light has never been before. A time for discovery every day....Lighting
I feel that the early early morning light is wonderful blend of hard shadows and the softest of light. I recommend it. Better than the morning news and weather reports, eh? Yep!Equipment
This shot was taken, hand held, with my Sony A7m2 and a 24 - 240, aperture priorityInspiration
I really don't think of myself as a nature photographer. I like the 'Art' of the lens most of all. But having said that, the beauty that is everywhere is oft in the blossoms. When I am on Safari, I am looking for that play of light. Dawn brings blooms into their own. I want to share it.Editing
I use PSCC 2017 I think it is essential as having the ability to swap lenses. If someone wants to be a purist snob, shoot film and process your own film :-)In my camera bag
I travel light. I have my trusty SonyA7m2 with a 24 -240 and an extra battery in my pocket. I recently upgraded to the Sony A7R m2. If I am doing something IMPORTANT, I also carry my Sony A300 with kit lens, sometimes a tripod, rarely a polarizing filter. And of course, a camera case.Feedback
The biggy is go explore! Relax! Go for a walk. If golf is the spoiling of a good walk, photography is the accent of a good walk. I scuba dive. Some divers rush around burning air to try and see soooo much. In the end they see so little. There is no focus to what they are doing. a thousand impressions with little seeing. The meaning of life lies in the verb 'seeing' don't miss out. Get up at dawn, brew some java (decaf I suggest) and take a stroll and SEE your world. Rick
