Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in the Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda.

Time

We started early on our treck through the dence jungle and came across the family of mountain gorillas at around midday.

Lighting

It was a wet overcast day in thick jungle so the lighting wasn't great.

Equipment

Shooting with a Nikon D7000 and a 70-200mm lens, it's all I had with me and I wasn't expecting to get so close to these amazing animals.

Inspiration

Wildlife is always a pleasure to take photographs of. And these endangered species were a complete joy to watch and take photos of.

Editing

I really like black and white animal photographs. So converting the photos to monochrome was always what I had planed to do. I feel you can bring out so much more textures in the fluffy fur and the leathery skin. I used silver efex pro for this particular photo.

In my camera bag

Now I'm using a Nikon Df and mostly wide angle lenses. I also carry a small tripod, ND filters, remote and spare batteries and SD cards.

Feedback
