Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best photos of Africa. Landscapes, animals, anything goes! in the Visions Of Africa Photo Contest with chances to win a Adoramapix and more!

"Why have I not selected any animal pictures in a contest in which most of the entries are animals?  Very simply, I was unable to identify a single animal picture that I felt was well executed and also stood out as capturing a particularly special moment (with the possible exception of the people’s choice winner)." - Justin Black

A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Justin Black for his collaboration as a guest judge in this photo contest. People's Choice
Grand Jury Winner

"The grand prize winner, Himba Woman, is simply a superbly executed portrait that treats the subject with respect and captures her inner confidence. It looks as though the picture was made in the shade of a hut doorway, to create a black backdrop, with illumination provided by sunlight reflecting off the ground outside. This is an excellent solution in what are otherwise very challenging lighting conditions. The framing is lovely, the eye contact arresting, the placement of her hair (left in front and right behind her shoulder) is very effective in terms of design. Processing of the images is very good too, featuring a well-placed tonal range, as well as naturalistic color and contrast." - Justin Black

Runner Up

"A prime example of the decisive moment in action. The gesture and body position are wonderful, composition is excellent, and the use of the back-lit smoke to separate the subject from the background is very effective. The control of the subject's shaded face is very important, retaining just enough shadow detail to read his face easily." - Justin Black

Runner Up

"A thoughtfully composed dynamic moment of pure joy and play, making effective use of the natural lighting conditions, and capturing the connection of the subjects to their native landscape." - Justin Black

Runner Up

"A lovely soulful portrait that has been executed and processed very well indeed." - Justin Black
