Very nice angle. Will return to this location at a less crowded time. Seems worth it!

Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in the ever changing Canary Wharf area of London. Its amazing glass and steel architecture makes it a popular location for photographers.
Time
The photo was taken on a Sunday. Being the main part of the city its very busy there during the week. Sunday is a lot quieter and easier to take photos.
Lighting
It was a pretty cloudy day and not too bright. This meant i had to be a little more creative with how i was shooting.
Equipment
Id just purchased a Nikon D800 and on the way home i thought id give it a little go. This was the first time using my new camera and i had a great time playing about with it.
Inspiration
I was shooting in the area and i found a good composition. I thought having a figure walk across could make it even better. I waited a while for a single person to come along. I think it was worth the wait as i think the lone man makes the photo.
Editing
I processed the photo in Lightroom, doing some dodging and burning and adding some contrast to really make the whites glow. Converting the photo to black and white and sharpening it was the finishing touches.
In my camera bag
Specialising in long exposure photography its vital i always cary ND filters and a tripod. Along with the D800 and a wide angle lens. Im often carrying an infrared converted camera with me now too. I really like the strong contrasty black and white images it produces.
Feedback
Wait for the right moment. Get your composition right and then look and wait for the final touches.
