Location
This was taken on the boarder of Banff national park in Alberta Canada.Time
The photo was taken at about 1 in the afternoon. The only way to get the horses up these trails is by daylight. We usually reach the peak by noon have lunch then head back down reaching the lower valley by 4pm.Lighting
Nothing specail about the lighting other than the wicked bounce lighting I got off the snow.Equipment
Nikon d7100 and a 8mm fisheye. This was a random set up for the day... i usually have a d800 with a 16mm 2.8 for wide mountain shots, or a old 28-85mm with the macro mode (its all metal and bullet proof for the horses)Inspiration
I have hundreds of photos from this peak, but the way the horse was looking at me (saying "can we go yet?") and the untouched nature of the mountain snow made me step back and get the shot.Editing
Nothing out of the ordinary for post processing. I had to mask out the horse and up the exposure to bring out the details of what she was carrying. In my camera bag
My usual mountain kit includes: Nikon d800,Nikon d7100 80-200mm f2.8, 28mm f2.8, nikon 16mm , 28-85mm, gitzo mountaineer tripod.Feedback
Take your camera everywhere. Shoot everything. I still consider myself a beginner with lots to learn, if you don't have your camera with you how can you practice and improve.
