As a photographer that’s continually searching for the lesser captured places rather than the overly shot icons, ever so often I find something that catches my eye with potential to be something unique.
While traveling though Idaho on my way up North, I stopped by these sand dunes that I had been eying for a couple years. Perfectly posed in the distance, the ‘other side’ of the Grand Tetons was in view. It was then that I knew there could be something special here.
To compress depth and bring the Tetons closer to the foreground, I used a focal length blending technique to make the scene more immersive. Imagine standing there feeling the granular soft grains of sand flow around your feet. As you slowly raise your head and look upwards, beyond the dunes, the grandeur of the towering peaks come into focus.
Can you put yourself there and feel it?
