Behind The Lens

Location

This Photo was taken in my kitchen which has a 270 degree bank of windows with very good natural lighting.

Time

This was taken right around 6:00 in the morning right as the sun was breaking over the trees.

Lighting

I wanted to create a simple shot to show the impact of natural lighting. I have always done extensive work in the Month of September due to the near perfect lighting throughout the month. It was in morning darkness and I was literally shooting this single sunflower bloom in the first rays coming through the window.

Equipment

Nikon D750 with a standard Nikkor 70-300mm lens

Inspiration

I was experimenting with early morning light and was ready to go before the sun came up. Pure light with no filters or artificial light sources. The flower was on the table in front of the window as part of a bouquet I had given to my wife the day before. It was a convenient subject in just the right place at the right time.

Editing

Only very minor adjustments - nothing worth mentioning

In my camera bag

Nikon D750 with Nikkor lenses, Canon EOS with standard lenses, Sony Cybershot, Multiple filters and a tripod.

Feedback

Patience and lots of practice capturing light. Much of my practice encompasses trying to master low light high resolution and low light low resolution scenes both with and without artificial lighting.
