Location
This picture was taken on the terrace under the awning of the woman in the picture.Time
The photoshoot was taken in the afternoon of a cloudy day in August.Lighting
The ambient light was cut off as much as possible by the awning and black sheets. I used a clamshell lighting.Equipment
The photo was shot on a Fujifilm X-T3 with a Fujinon XF 16-55 mm F2.8 and a tripod. I used two Godox AD200 for the clamshell lighting.Inspiration
The woman in the picture is a friend from high school. She wanted a picture like the one's Iris Apfel is seen in. I liked the idea, but I suggested in stead of using complementary colors to do it monochromatic, everything in red.Editing
In post-processing I only had to clean some minor skin issues by using frequency separation and adapt the brightness and contrast of the background in photoshop .In my camera bag
The equipment I normally have in my bag, depends if I am travelling in Belgium or abroad. When I am in a foreign country, I usually have my Fujifilm X-T3 with the Fujinon XF 16-55mm and the Laowa 9mm (with a big stopper) in my bag. That way I am travelling light and able to take a broad range of pictures. When I shoot product or portraits I have a suitcase with backdrops, softboxes, grids, colorgel and lightningFeedback
A good monochromatic photo depends on the authenticity of the used color. I use a ColorChecker Pasport for the color management, the exposure and the white balance. To control the light it is best to use a room where you can cut of the ambient light, that way you only have to manage the artificiel light.
