The photo was taken during our round trip of New England in 2019 at the Old Baptist Cemetery, Yarmouth, ME.Time
After a weekend of leaf peeping in New Hampshire we drove from Ashland, NH to Maine. Before arriving at Brunswick, ME we wanted to take a picture of the Old Meeting House at Yarmouth, ME. It was almost 4 o'clock in the afternoon when we arrived at the Cemetery.Lighting
We were lucky. It was a bright shining day with a blue sky and nice big white clouds.Equipment
The photo was shot on a Fufjifilm X-T3 with a Fujinon XF 16-55 mm F2.8 and a tripod.Inspiration
The main purpose of visiting Yarmouth was to take a picture of the Old Meeting House. Eventually it was the orange colors of the maple leaves that got my complete attention. In Europe we do not have trees with nice orange leaves. The sun shining behind this big maple tree contrasted spectacular with the blue sky and the lawn of the Cemetery.Editing
I tried to accentuated the different types of orange colors with the green of the grass and the blue of the sky in Lightroom but it did not got the result I wanted. As a precaution I took that day 3 pictures with different exposures (-1/0/+1). These 3 pictures were combined in Aurora 2019 to one HDR picture and there were the colors I wanted in this picture. In my camera bag
The equipment I normally have in my bag, depends if I am travelling in Belgium or abroad. When I am in a foreign country, I usually have my Fujifilm X-T3 with the Fujinon XF 16-55mm and the Laowa 9mm (with a big stopper) in my bag. That way I am travelling light and able to take a broad range of pictures.Feedback
Driving through New England in October can be a challenge, a lot of people are trying to enjoy the fall foliage. It is key to find a spot that it is not crowded. At these really old cemeteries you can find nice big trees. You have to know when the sun will be in the wright spot to give the leaves that magical color everybody is speaking of. The Photographer's Ephemeris app can help you with that.
