Location
This image was taken at the Government house in Victoria BC. Part of the gardens there right in front of the building. I took this photo while waiting for some clients for a photoshoot.Time
this was at 945 am nice early morningLighting
the lighting on the flowers in this part of the gardens were not to bright at the time nice even lighting so I just sat down next to some flowers on the garden wall waiting for the bees to land on that particular flower for the best lighting and closets to me.Equipment
I used my Canon RP series ( mirrorless ) and my 50mm lens. I might have used a ND 8 filter. when i can tell the lighting is to harsh I do use it. For this instance I am certain with the settings i used I did not use that filter this time. Settings were iso 100 f 3.5 and 1/400 secInspiration
I just kept practicing trying to get the winning shot of a bee which is not easy when they move so quickly but it was a goal I have been working on when I had the chance for the last 2 years. I had the time, location and opportunity. The practice paid off and patience it took a lot of images even at the same time and date as this one to get that winning image.Editing
yes just brought down some highlights brought up some shadows and adjusted the color green from the flower from the reflection of the green surrounding the flower and then increased the color yellow to really make the flower pop in color. I also added some texture ( only used lightroom to edit this image, no photoshop edits at all) I also cropped this image as it was zoom slightly out so I wanted to get in up close with this one.In my camera bag
my 50 mm and 35mm lens at all times sometimes my 18-85 mm as well. my Canon RP series body. some UV filters and ND filters mostly the ND8. some wipes to clear dust and dirt and the little brush to clear dust. 2 x SD cards ( 64 GB - 150MBs lexar band) and 2 batteries. I hardly ever use my tripod unless when trying to get a long exposer image.Feedback
keep practicing and look through all your images you never know which one if cropped correctly could be a winning image. Have fun !!!
