Location
This photo was shot in a field by a lovely wedding venue up in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. The venue area itself is beautiful, but the field was just too picturesque to not use. There was a long pebble pathway winding between grass and flower fields that framed the model beautifully.Time
This was shot later in the day, before the sun set. Because of the elevation and the time of day, it was getting pretty chilly. We had to rush through a few shots in this area so we could move onto the next location and outfit.Lighting
The weather was very overcast that day, so the sunlight was diffused. It helped us get very smooth and even lighting without anything being blown out, even with us in the open field.Equipment
This was taken with my trusty Nikon D850 camera and my 35mm lens. I set the camera on the ground and used the flip screen for framing.Inspiration
The area was just too beautiful to pass up. The rocky pathway was winding perfectly between two flower and grass fields. It looked like it was from a storybook. We had to use it.Editing
This image didn't take too much work in the post-processing stage, just some color grading and a little retouch work on the face. The model and I were on a time-crunch for the day, so makeup was skipped on her end. I did a little digital contour to emulate what she would have done if time permitted. In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D850, along with my 35, 50, 85, and 105 prime lenses. A recent addition to the mix is my 14mm fisheye lens for a few more creative shot opportunities.Feedback
Never be afraid to explore your location! We had plans to shoot only in another area, but we took a brief moment to explore a bit and found this amazing picturesque setting. Nature can provide all the options you need, you just need to look around until inspiration strikes!
