Taken near the Times Square area on a walking tour at night to create some experimental exposure shots that would enhance the richness of life seen in the Big Apple . The original Photograph was taken on film , using a vintage Olympus OM2SP , and the ISO was increased , plus a slight time delay was chosen to create a vintage grain and slight blur in the activity before me. It was also taken through a shop window with the reflected light in the foreground being a chosen effect and motif rather than a capturing defect because I wanted to create a story which made the viewer feel as though they were sitting in the moment seeing the scene just as they would if they were also sitting and watching the action from another store. The final image choices were made by experimenting with reproduction of the photograph by deciding to take a digital shot of the original rather than scanning it with an increased level of incandescent white balance and light and colour filters , and also increasing the ISO still further to force the vibrant saturation especially of the blue and pink hues which allowed the image to have the retro feeling and blur and contrast extended even further without using Photoshop or other light room applications. Called , ' Sub to Go !' , to highlight the action of the people and vehicles and the Subway sandwich shops sign as it lights up as well as a reminder of the phrases used in American food joints to ask for a take away that can fit in with the busy life of New Yorkers both day and night.
