Behind The Lens

Location

The southern most tip of the Vesterålen island. North Norway. It was a beautiful day with a very late sun going down in the background. Midnight sun almost but not quite.

Time

Quit late in the day. The sun is in the North here as thats where it sets when its getting close to not setting at all.

Lighting

It was destined to be a silhouette right from the start. I just love the way the climber shows up against the sky.

Equipment

This was actually take some time ago. I was still using my old Nikon D300 back then.

Inspiration

I was taking pictures of my son climbing when I saw this rock with the sun behind it. I asked this climber to go up it just for the picture.

Editing

The black and white conversion obviously.

In my camera bag

Now I have an extensive bag of kit because I run a tourist location. I teach photography here too. Based around the Nikon d850 right now.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open for such opportunities. When they present themselves just grab hold of the situation. Don't let go until the image is in the bag.
