Location
This picture was taken at the Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. I was between workshops, so I decided to find something interesting to visit. This plantation was built in 1681 by an Englishman. Then in 1783 his son planted two rows of the live Oak trees, which enhanced the entrance to their home.Time
This was taken around 3:00 p.m. Eastern TimeLighting
Two things caught my attention in making this image. One, of course, was the arches in a row. The second thing was the shadows cast on the ground. IEquipment
I used my Canon EOS 6D, and my kit lens, which is an EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM. I still use the same camera and lens today. I should fess up to the fact that I did not take my tripod with me, so this was a handheld shot.Inspiration
While walking around the plantation, I was going over to see the horses in the pasture, which is not visible in this image. My eye caught the symmetry of the tree's arches and I felt that the trunks of these mighty Oaks created a leading line into the image. The fence line is another leading line, although not as predominant.Editing
The only post-processing I did was a little clarity in Lightroom. And I always have to check the horizon, as I have a left tile, but this one was good as shot.In my camera bag
My trusty Canon EOS 6D, along with my kit lens, which is an EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM. The other gear includes a Canon EF75-300mm, f/4-5.6 III, Canon Macro EF100mm, f/2.8L USM, and miscellaneous ger of batteries, card readers, reflectors, hood loupe, lens hoods, circular polarizer, head lamp, multi-colored flashlight, knee pads, Off wipes, and a few other items I'm probably forgetting.Feedback
Always look around you for things other than the main attraction. The other thing I was told before, was to always look behind you. Always be prepared for the unusual. The primary reason I chose this was for the plantation, which had appeared in a movie. I found so much more here.
