Behind The Lens

Location

This trestle is located in my hometown of Clinton, Tn. I have always loved this trestle. This trestle goes over the Clinch River which runs through Clinton and Anderson County, Tn.

Time

It was about two in the afternoon when I was coming down Market St. and decided to stop and capture this shot. I liked the way the green of the trees around it really enhanced the trestle. Plus, I have always liked the leading lines and the patterns of this trestle.

Lighting

I remember it was a typical hot and hazy August day here in the South. The sun was beating down on the tracks providing just enough light as the clouds were moving in for the thunderstorm, we were going to have that evening.

Equipment

I just had my Coolpix S570 with me at the time. I shot this photo handheld. I was moving and taking pictures as quick as I could because this is an active railroad that Norfolk Southern runs on a daily basis.

Inspiration

I grew up walking these small-town streets and the railroad has always run through Clinton, Tn. and the train depot has always been along Market Street for as long as I have been alive. I basically grew up just loving this old trestle. Like I said in a prior question I have always liked the patterns and leading lines of the tracks and trestle.

Editing

I added some saturation and cropped it a little. I didn't have to do much to this photo.

In my camera bag

Well, I usually have whichever camera I decide to shoot with and lenses. Those cameras usually range from my Canon, Nikon or Fuji. Camera cleaning kit, first aid kit, extra batteries, sd cards, snacks, maps ect...

Feedback

Pay attention to the leading lines and patterns or themes in whatever the subject is that you are trying to shoot. Pay attention to your background and make sure there is nothing that will be distracting from your subject as well. Have fun and just get out there and shoot!!
