I took this photograph in New River, Tn. New River is a very rural area that is very beautiful and has a lot to offer when it comes to photography.Time
It was between 12:00 & 2:00 when I captured this image. I really didn't have a plan when I left out to shoot that morning. I just knew I was heading towards New River. I was looking around for things to photograph and I looked down into the valley from the road above and spotted this bridge. I drove for a few minutes before I found the old gravel road that lead down to it.Lighting
Even though it was a sunny day, there still was a chill in the air. I was so glad that there was enough natural light to almost light the entire scene . Plus, the sun light helped to make for some pretty cool reflections of the bridge and trees in the water.Equipment
I shot this photograph with a Nikon S570. I was shooting hand held and was having to stand real still because I was standing on a sheet of ice. I got everything lined up and snapped off two or three shots and then carefully came back up the bank towards the car.Inspiration
I set out on this trip to just go and see what I could find to photograph and when I looked down into the valley from the road this area was just so beautiful. It really stood out, and when I got closer I could see the ice on the water and on the tree limbs sticking out of the water. I just thought it made a good photograph.Editing
I was really pleased I had to bring some of the shadow areas out and crop just a very little. In my camera bag
I normally have in my bag which ever cameras and lenses that I am going to be shooting with that day. Cleaning supplies for my equipment. I also carry extra memory cards, batteries etc... I also carry a first aid kit, snacks and bottle water. I carry my tripods in the car along with extra survival supplies because you never know what may happen and it's always good to know how to survive if you get stranded and had to.Feedback
My advice to any one that is trying to take any kind of photographs, is to get out there and explore. Get out of your comfort zone and explore places beyond your own back yard so to speak. Some of my best shots has been when I have ventured off the beaten path. You can't find yourself until you loose yourself. You never know what's waiting around that next curve if you don't ever get out of your comfort zone. Be one with nature, you'll find it is so good for your soul and so inspiring. See you around that next curve !!
