Location
This photo was taken in my backyard. We had a tree that was hit by lighting and died, but this squirrel loved to sit and reflect there.Time
This shot was taken about midday in late June 2019.Lighting
I do not recall whether this was a sunny or cloudy day. Based on the fact I used an ISO of 200 I would assume it must have been a cloudy day. Normally I would shoot at 100 ISO for outdoor shots like this.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3200 camera with a 50-300 mm lens. I was on my deck about 25 feet from the squirrel.Inspiration
I noticed a lot of squirrel playing in the back yard with the chipmunks. I went and got my camera and waited for this squirrel to go to his favorite spot in the tree.Editing
I always shoot in Raw, so yes there was some post processing involved, but it was minimum (contrast, white balance, etc..)In my camera bag
I usually go exceptionally light with the camera equipment. I have my Nikon D3200 and two lenses (15-55mm and 55-300mm) I have a remote shutter release fob for when I need it, and a small tripod. I carry 2 polarized filters, one natural density filter, and several macro addon filters for close up opportunities.Feedback
As I mentioned before our backyard is full of animal activity, featuring birds, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, and birds. They gather around the bird feeders and watering hole; so, there are ample opportunities for a good shot. I knew that this squirrel liked this spot in the tree and I just waited for him to show up.
