Location
This image was taken at Pool between Redruth and Camborne in Cornwall. It's one of the EPAL engine houses (East PoolAgar LTD). It is a working pump but is currently under restoration so does not run. expected time to restore is 3 yrs so it shgould be back up and running in the next 12mthsTime
if i remember correctly it was taken early to mid after on a miserable grey January afternoonLighting
the day was just typical cornish January wether, which means grey, damp and cold and usually wetEquipment
it was shot hand held with the CAnon 7d2 with the 24-105mm lensInspiration
we had a club competiotn coming up which i think was architecture and i was planning on shooting other things but drove past this and then just decided to shoot it in case the other things i wanted to do didn't work so this was a kind of backup for a themeEditing
it went through camera raw and the original image was slightly flat from the natural lighting od the day and it didn't make the deatail and colours stand out so i ran it through nik collection and used a HDR preset that didn't exagerate the image too much then just tweaked some sliders to make it as close to reality as it could be with lots of definition in the stone and steel work. This moody sky also makes the engine house stand out better against the red roof of the buildingIn my camera bag
this varies depending what i'm doing but my go to kit i tend to keep if i'm just out for a walk or something is that my 7d2 has the 24-105mm fitted and my 60d has the 10-20mm wide lens on it and i carry both this is just to reduce getting dust etc in the camera's when outside by not having to change lenses outside. Othertimes i will fit my 60d with the 100mm L macro lens and ring flash to do macro stuff, i usually use the 60d for this as it has the flippy screen for working low to the floor. Other times my 7d2 will have either my 300mm l F4 or the 70-200 2.8 sigma on it. usually there are a few filter in the bag nd's and cpl and grads.Feedback
plan where you want to shoot for time of day and year depending on where you want the light to hit the engine house
