Location
This image was Taken at Portreath Beach in Cornwall, England. During the winter months and storms coming in of the sea it always gives great action shots. I shot on high speed shooting, AI servo and just shot large burst when i saw a set of waves coming inTime
this was taken around 9am - 10 am from the end of the Harbour wallLighting
It was winter time and raining heavy, skies were grey and very overcast. The image in colour didn't do it justice so flipped it to black and whiteEquipment
I used my Canon 7d2 with Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 and i have a camouflage waterproof cover which is custom fit for 7d2 and sigma 70-200. It completely covers the body and lens. You need all the protection you can get when salt water is everywhere in the atmosphere from sea spray and in the water itself.Inspiration
i know the location well and living only a few minutes from from the North coast in Cornwall i know where spots are that get the most of a pounding from the sea in those conditions. Weather forecast is always worth watching, it gives a good indication when the bad weather is coming in to get the best of it photographicallyEditing
The skies were grey, bland and colourless so i flipped to black and white to bring out the best of the image. In my camera bag
For this shot i didn't even take a bag i grabbed the camera, lens and cover and just dropped it on the seat of the car as i rushed out as soon as i woke upFeedback
Be safe when doing these types of shots . The sea in Cornwall has killed many people this year for various reasons no image is worth risking your life for just through stupidity and there is always a lot of opportunity to do it in this area. Local knowledge is always best to find information and location times. Shoot in bursts getting a good shot will always be a game of numbers, trying to get something others haven't already shown
