Location
This image is taken in Zaanse Schans, a small village full of classic windmills and typical Dutch houses. It is a small 15 minute drive from Amsterdam.Time
It was taken during sunrise, because then the light comes from behind this beautiful house. In addition, early in the morning there is a chance for some mist that makes the scene more idyllic.Lighting
What makes this scene beautiful is the soft light of the sunrise, combined with some clouds at the sky which then get these red tones due to the rising sun.Equipment
My camera is the Nikon D750 and the lens that I used was the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8. Also a grad filter was used to balance the light and preserve all the details in the darker parts.Inspiration
I am always after "fairytale" shots, meaning that I try to avoid having modern elements in the frame. In this way I can have a more classic shot that could be taken even 50 years ago.Editing
I did some standard post processing in Lightroom and some local color adjustments in Photoshop to make colors pop.In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D750 plus three lenses (Tamron 15-30 f/2.8, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 and Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8). I also have a carbon fiber tripod which has less weight and is ideal for travelling, as well as a set of ND and Grad ND filters to balance the light and create long exposure shots.Feedback
Always check the weather forecast for some clouds and high humidity, so then you have more chances to find some low mist which makes things far more interesting.
