I used the Nikon D750 and the Nikon 70-300 on a tripod.Inspiration
I always admire forest photos that have some special mood in it,so I located this place and it looked ideal for the kind of photo I had in mind.Editing
My post processing included Lightroom for the basic adjustments and Photoshop for the final details.In my camera bag
I always take with me my Tamron 15-30 2.8 for the wide landscape shots, a Tamron 90mm macro lens and a Nikon 70-300 for the long shots.Feedback
For forest shots it is better to use a mid to long range (70mm+) in order to compress the backround and have a better mood.
