This photo was taken during my visit to an agricultural field in the mountains of Balcarce, Argentina. It was winter and it was very cold. Agricultural fields in the Argentine pampas at this time of year have little foliage so I could make out these two horses in the distance and asked the ranch owner to call them, which he did with a whistle. While the animals came to the call of their owner, I took the opportunity to take several shots with my camera.Time
I am an amateur photographer with a lot to learn yet. I am a consultant in environmental protection and remediation of polluting situations and I love life and photographing nature. This is one of my best photographs and I took it in winter on a very cold afternoon and quite windy that moved the camera, so I had to lean on one of the fence posts that separated the paddocks. It was approximately 5 PM on July 18, 2015.Lighting
The light was low but it was enough to achieve a fairly sharp shot and, what most interested me, capture the movement and the manes of the horses floating in the air.Equipment
I used a NIKON D90 camera with its 18-105 mm lens.Inspiration
I saw those horses in the distance in the field and imagined that their silhouettes would contrast with the semi-dry grasses with some green grasses. At that moment I imagined the photo as if it were a painted work of art, and I think I got pretty close to it. I don't always make it ... hahaha.Editing
Yes. I corrected the white balance and gave some contrast. In my camera bag
I always go outside with my Nikon D90 with 18.105 Lens and a Sigma 120-400 mm Lens.Feedback
In winter most of the Pampean fields have similar characteristics. But in the Balcarce area, in the province of Buenos Aires, there is something different. It is an area with mountain ranges of heights that exceed 300 meters which offers a very particular natural scenery and of great beauty. But it would be ideal to capture the horses in motion. The tools: Your camera, time, and patience.
