Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture in the Stella Maris neighborhood of the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. Only a hundred meters from my parents' house and my office.

Time

I was returning from my office to my home after a long day at work. It was 0:19 AM and as I usually walk back, I always carry my camera. Just in case. It is already a custom thanks to Viewbug.

Lighting

The authorities that administer the water tower periodically change the color of the lights that illuminate the tower. So the contrast generated with the dark sky gives it an imposing appearance.

Equipment

I used my faithful Nikon D90 with the AF - S NIKKOR 18-105 mm. Shutter speed: 1/8s f/3.8 ISO 3200 No Flash, No Tripod

Inspiration

The silence that surrounded my walk made me turn around and stare at the scene. There was no wind and the cloudy sky gave a more impressive look to the tower so I decided to portray the moment.

Editing

Yes, with Windows Photo Editor. I only minimally cut the bottom of the photograph to give it more balance.

In my camera bag

I usually carry with me my Nikon D90, with its DX18-105 mm, and an envelope with Vivitar 67 mm filters. (Intensifier; CPL and UV)

Feedback

My advice is that, as far as possible, always carry your camera with you. Nowadays it is easier because cell phones have better and better cameras. This facilitates that we can find ourselves prepared before any possible and only time to register. If that is the situation, be prepared to click!
