I take this photo in my home on my desk in front of my MAC monitor. This is they key of this photo. Easy and economic way to take nice shots at your home without a professional lighting system.Time
Time of day is not really important in this kind of shot. You need a black room with a large monitor. This is other advantage. Easy, economic and you can take the photo when you have the time.Lighting
This is back lighting glass photography. Let me explain the "set". First of all, I prepared a gradient background and opened it full screen. Background will be the light and the color of your photo. Be careful, avoid dark background at first times. The second and last steps is to prepare glass composition at the right height. You can place composition on withe, metal or reflective surface. This, also, change the light a lot.Equipment
As mentioned i used iMac monitor as lighting and my nikon D3200 with Nikkor 50mm F1,8G on a manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
I was looking on internet to understand how to take drop sculpture photo. During this search i discovered "glass photography" style. This give mi inspiration to use this kind of technic to shot a something between still life and drop sculpture. However, drop sculpture need a totally different set and technic, is it true?Editing
Yes absolutely ! Post processing for me is part of creative process. This photo was edited with Aperture but mainly with Intensify (Macphun Plugin) and gently retouched with SnaphealIn my camera bag
Equipment most depend on situation and kind of photography. I often use a prime lens (Nikkor 40mm Micro f2,8 is the most used). In the bag however I always have a basic zoom (18-55mm is a great friend in a lot of situation) and Nikon flash sb-700.Feedback
First, focussing is really important. This can be hard on transparent object when you have shot focus dept. Second, be creative. There is a lot of possible composition with different color and objects. You can see other photos on my gallery but there are so many different combination!!!
