Location
This photo was taken at the Loretto Chapel in New Mexico, USATime
It was about 1:30 in the afternoon on September 3, 2017.Lighting
There was no additional lighting for this as the light coming through the window gave me all the natural light I needed.Equipment
Camera of choice is my wonderful Canon 5D MK IV with EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens. Handheld and no flash or any other equipment.Inspiration
When you walk into this chapel and gaze at this awesomeness and especially after hearing the story of how this was built, you cannot go away without making an attempt of capturing its beauty.Editing
Post-processing? Yes. Basic LR adjustments with highlights and shadows, a little saturation, exposure and sharpening. In my camera bag
What I normally carry in my bag is my Canon 5D MK IV, Canon 100mm macro lens, Canon 24-105mm lens, Canon 600 EX II-RT flash, Tripod, extra flash cards and of course extra batteries.Feedback
This is not so much a difficult shot as it is trying to get in there and get a great shot with nobody in the frame. My preference in this shot was to capture it by itself and no one in it. Being patient and waiting for the right time was all that was needed. The light coming through the windows was just enough to light without the need of additional light. Exposed for the highlights and recover the shadows in LR if your camera will give you the range. Waiting for the right time of day will pay off when the light from the windows is giving you the perfect light or use off camera flash if allowed. Asking ahead will let you know how to better prepare yourself with additional lighting equipment if it is allowed. Have fun and keep on shooting.
