Location
This photo was taken early one morning while on Hwy.69 overlooking a lake on my way to Arkansas.Time
This was early in the morning as you can see from the morning sunrise. One of my favorite photos taken about 6:00 or 6:30 or so around July of 2007.Lighting
Not much to share about the lighting for it is completely nature light. I was driving to a worksite, when if I had not turned my head to look, I would have missed this. Sometimes you just have to look and you may be surprised how light can make a wonderful image.Equipment
My camera at the time was a Canon 40D and a Canon zoom 24-105 lens. No tripod or flash was used. To hold the camera steady I was leaning out the window, after I pulled over and parked, and used the window to steady myself. I remember it was a very cold morning, but that wasn't going to stop me from giving a shot.Inspiration
My inspiration for taking this photo was nothing more than looking out the window and was amazed at how beautiful the sunrise looked over the lake. The colors were simply amazing and the clouds were perfect. Mother Natures beauty, you just can't beat it. I had to try and capture it.Editing
I usually do some post-processing with most of my landscapes and sunrise and sunset shots. This was no exception. Some minor corrections with color and contrast is all that was necessary with this particular one.In my camera bag
For sure the first lens that goes in my bag is my Canon Macro EF 180mm 3.5 L Lens. That has to be one of my favorite lens. I like close ups and macro, so this has to be with me. My newest camera that goes everywhere I do is the Canon 7d MK II. An excellent upgrade from my Canon 7d. Next is my Canon Macro EF 100mm 2.8 L IS USM lens. A Canon Zoom EF 16-35 2.8 L II USM wide angle lens. A flash unit just in case, lens cloth and of course extra batteries. My tripod also goes with me.Feedback
Sunrise or sunset photos may require some patience as well as being at the right place at the right time. If you don't get the shot just right, try again another day as the colors change day to day and hour to hour. If you have a favorite place, try going at different times of the year as well as staying through the magic hours of morning and evenings.Take your time, Mother Nature is always there.
