Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the swiss alps.

Time

Around 10 pm

Lighting

This is a night shot, therefore a long exposure. The issue was to not underexpose the foreground and at the same time not overexpose the moon light in the background. The contrast was quite big.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF17-35mm f2.8L USM, tripod, remote shutter

Inspiration

I was attracted by the moonlight in the background in contrast with the orange light at the entrance of the hut. It’s a nice eyecatcher.

Editing

There was some disturbing elements on the bottom of the picture that I’ve removed and also some fine tuning of the lights and shadows in order to reduce the contrast.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 5D MARK III, EF 70-200mm 2.8L, EF 17-35mm 2.8L, EF 50mm 1.2, tripod, remote shutter, battery, ND and GND filters

Feedback

Always take more pictures of the same scene. Sometimes it’s not that easy to judge on the camera screen and it’s a shame when you realize by downloading on the computer that some parts are too much over or under exposed.
