The picture is taken at sunset with the lights on the airstrip. This gives an extra touch to the picture, in my opinion.Equipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 50mm f/1.2L USM, Manfrotto tripod, Canon TC-80N3 remote controlInspiration
It is a very little airport but the mountains around and the light conditions during winter are wonderful. It was tricky to find the right place to take the picture. It was nice because this plane landed and started a lit of times so I could take a lot of pictures and had a cuppola of good pictures of the landscape and a lot of the landing plane.Editing
The picture is composed of 7 landscapes taken as HDR and 1 picture of the plane on the same position as it is in the picture, thanks to the tripod. The 7 landscapes was processed as an HDR pro in PS, with some fine tuning on for lights/shadows, contrast, noise and removing of disturbing subjects as cars, tree branches, ... . Then I added the plane on a separate level and gave the same light characteristics as the landscape. In my camera bag
Canon EOS 5 D Mark III, EF 16-35mm 1:2.8 L, EF 50mm 1:1.2 L, Manfrotto 190 Carbon, extra battery, polarising filter, remote control.Feedback
Consider also little airports, especially if it's near your home. You can take more time to find the right place, the right time and, last but very important, the right season. And then, a tripod, a chair, a bottle warm coffee and music until the planes are landing or starting. You will wonder how much movement there is on a little airport. Take also your documents with you as it can happen that the police will ask for it...
