this is an indoor venue with man-made light - I really needed a faster lens than what I had available...Equipment
This was taken with a Canon T4i and Sigma 70-300mm lensInspiration
A friend came up with tickets so this was pretty last-minute - I used equipment I just had hidding in the car 'just in case'Editing
I tried to salvage what I could of the dark original using LightRoomIn my camera bag
I normally carry a Canon 80D (I finally wore out the shutter in my trusty 70D) with a Tamron 16/300mm mounted, and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses, ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 16-300mm Tamron though, the Tamron's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the openFeedback
Use the fastest long lens you have for indoor sports shooting to avoid shake and grainy shots
