Location
This photo was probably taken in Maine. My brother and I would take daytrips to the coast of New England which was close enough from his home to do that. As we aged it became more difficult to walk on the sand so we would find a spot in the parking lot and watch the families having fun and we would photograph both the scenery and the people. This youngster was definitely ready to conquer the ocean and took this pose waiting for a wave almost daring it to knock him over. His enjoyment was palpable even from the distance.Time
Judging from the child's shadow, it was mid to late in the afternoon. That allowed for the darkening of the front of the child and, with the turn of the head, the almost masked identification of the child than the apparent youthful age.Lighting
I shoot in daylight as much as possible at all times of the day.Equipment
It was a handy Nikon Coolpix, that I carry with me everywhere, usually set to automatic. The vision of the child was its own inspirationInspiration

I have both a Nikon Coolpix, a point and shoot type and a Canon which can be set to automatic or adjusted to the whim of the shot. focus or lighting.Feedback
Keep your eyes and your head open. Take many shots and look at the results. It might be there, maybe as a "hidden" small piece of the larger picture.
