Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in The Rose Gardens of Farmers Branch, a park near me.

Time

I shot this about an half an hour before sunset. It was late winter so the sun set fairly early, and a streetlight provided the reflection on the water.

Lighting

The duck was in the full light of the setting sun which was at my back, so I was able to get a nice shot handheld.

Equipment

I was using a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16-300 lens. I shot handheld without a flash too keep from startling the critters.

Inspiration

Honestly, I was just playing with the camera this day! I had just gone for a walk a d this guy was a willing subject...

Editing

The only post work that was done to this was a bit of processing in Lightroom to bring out the colors.

In my camera bag

My go-to rig is a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16-300 walkabout lens. If I'm getting serious I'll also carry a 5D mkIII.

Feedback

For wildlife shots just be patient and let the critters get used to you being there - theyll be less jittery and sit still longer. For cu is a little bread doesn't hurt :-)
