Tip of Clouds Rest protruding up

After passing the junction where a separate trail would take anyone to Sunrise Lakes (and then eventually join the JMT), we reached a point where we saw the tip of Clouds Rest protruding up the hill. Tenaya Canyon opened up and joined Yosemite Valley, and Half Dome, Glacier Point, Sentinel Dome and Mt. Watkins came into view. Not a single cloud was in sight in any direction. Still early that the sun was hanging low that the tall pines cast long shadows and the granite rocks were coated in a smear of yellow. Now that Clouds Rest was in sight, we were more excited to get there. What we didn’t know was there were a few more steep hills to go up and down even before the expected last uphill climb.
