This photo was taken at about 1 P.M. on a hazy day. The Eastern, overcast sky, darkening the background, brought promises of rain.

Gallup, New Mexico has an unusually high frequency of locomotive traffic for a small city. Passenger and freight trains pass through the town approximately every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Cutting through the beautiful, red cliffs and high mesas of the "Land of Enchantment", miles long freight trains carry coal, oil, grain and mixed manifests to and from the rest of the country.
