Denali Highway lake

This small stream is a few miles east of Denali National Park on Denali Highway.

I was fortunate enough to capture a full moon setting over the Sawtooth Mountains as the sun was rising.

We were floating on the Chilkat River near Haines, Alaska when this one flew into the tree in front of us.

Location

I took this photo in my front yard. We were having an unusually harsh winter with lots of extreme cold when it wasn't snowing. This was one of those mornings where we had a winter wonderland.

Time

This was taken mid morning, but the sky was overcast.

Lighting

This was a dark, gloomy, overcast day without shadows.

Equipment

I used a Fujifilm Finepix S1. There was no other equipment.

Inspiration

I don't look forward to going out on super cold mornings, but this scene was so beautiful I had to capture it.

Editing

I probably used Luminar to enhance the photo.

In my camera bag

I typically travel light. My bag will have a selection of ND filters and a polarizing filter plus a shutter release. I also like to have a tripod along.

Feedback

Just be ready to move when the opportunity arises. I have missed way to many great photos because I didn't have a camera present.
