Location
This location is in Monument Valley and is Thunderbird Mesa reflected in Sands Springs Aquifers. This is one of the few places in the valley where there is water for the animals.Time
This is early morning. We took the early morning tour of Monument valley which begins before sunrise and goes places tourists are not allowed to go without a Navajo guide.Lighting
The lighting was perfect as it was early morning with the sun behind us.Equipment
I used a Fujifilm finepix S1 without a tripod, flash or other special equipment.Inspiration
Our guide took us here as part of his tour. It is one of the few places with standing water in the park.Editing
I took three bracketed photos and used Aurora HDR to process them.In my camera bag
I normally carry a tripod and several ND filters.Feedback
Take as many photos as you can. Memory is cheap and it is amazing what photos come back that are worth working with. Post processing doesn't mean gaudy and ugly, it can in fact give you closer to what you saw in person.
